The Edwards Accelerator Laboratory is managed by the Department of Physics and Astronomy, which resides in the College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio University. The lab is also a part of the Institute for Nuclear and Particle Physics at Ohio University.

The laboratory is member of ARUNA (Association for Research at University Nuclear Accelerators), which promotes research at university-based accelerators in the United States. We are also an Associated Institution with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics, which seeks to foster interdisciplinary collaborations in nuclear physics and astrophysics.

Much of the funding that supports research in the laboratory comes from the U.S. Department of Energy, via the Office of Science, the National Nuclear Security Administration, the Office of Nuclear Energy, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Funding for the 2011-12 Pelletron upgrade and the 2018-19 helium ion source upgrade was received from the National Science Foundation; this agency has also supported basic research in the laboratory in the past. The Defense Threat Reduction Agency supports some of our work in applied nuclear physics.
